WECC 101 The Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) is a non-profit corporation that exists to assure a reliable Bulk Electric System in the geographic area known as the Western Interconnection. WECC has been approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as the Regional Entity for the Western Interconnection. The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) delegated some of its authority to create, monitor, and enforce reliability standards to WECC through a Delegation Agreement. The information provided in this web site serves as a resource to help you lead meetings, work with WebEx to host on-line meetings, and meet all WECC requirements for notification, process, and format and produce professional results. Environmental and Cultural Data Viewer These web mapping applications provide the ability to view and access the environmental/cultural risk classification Data Layers developed by WECC stakeholders as part of the Regional Transmission Expansion Planning project funded through a grant from the US Department of Energy. The Data Layers available through this application are intended for use in regional transmission expansion planning; siting level analyses for specific transmission projects, while they may employ some of the same data sets used here, will require other, project level data sets and consideration. Note: These tools require Chrome or Firefox web browsers. The Class Interest List is intended for broad correspondence.
Participation is voluntary and open to the public. This means any interested person may subscribe to an email list and thereby elect to send and receive from the list. A Class Interest List may contain persons not from a member entity in the class and may not necessarily contain a person from each of the member entities in the associated class. Attention: WECC Member Representatives The WECC Members Advisory Committee (MAC) takes its role as a key interface between the Membership and the WECC Board very seriously.
For the past three years the MAC has carried out an annual self-assessment of its effectiveness by grading a series of statements that relate to its role as defined in the bylaws. Individual MAC members have been asked to evaluate the performance of the MAC against each statement and provide a grade of either Below Expectations, Meets Expectations or Exceeds Expectations. The MAC members have also been asked to provide a brief commentary in support of the grade given. The 2017 assessment was recently completed by the MAC. The results have been compiled anonymously into a report that was presented to the MAC at its meeting on June 20th. The report also provides a year over year comparison of the results for the past 3 years which generally indicates a trend of increasing effectiveness in most categories.
During its review of the report at the June meeting, the MAC felt that it was appropriate to seek member comment on its self-assessment, the effectiveness rating and the comments. The MAC is looking for constructive comments that will help it to meet and exceed the memberships’ expectations. In particular any thoughts relating to how the MAC can enhance its focus on the improving the reliability of the Western Interconnect would be appreciated.
The report has been posted below. Comments are requested by July 12, 2017, to allow the Class representative to provide a synopsis at the MAC meeting on July 19, 2017.
