On this page I initially asked whether there was some kind of a table or an overview of setups that were confirmed to work. Since I haven't heard yet of any table or page that summarizes the compatibility of graphic cards/roms/mac pros I assume there doesn't exist any. Therefore, I have started to build this table. Since some people were confused by the example data (sorry for that), I removed this misleading data and started to fill in real data so that people can rely on it. If you want to contribute, please post:. Type of your Mac Pro: 1,1 (2006) or 2,1 (2007) or 3,1 (2008) or 4,1 (early 2009) as in System Profiler). Exact name of graphic card, memory, product code (see list below or or ).

If you are going to flash a card, you do this at your own risk! You find assistance in the guide and the. Make sure to have installed 10.6.4 on your Mac Pro with the graphics update. Generally, it can be said that EFI boot screen only works when the 5770er and 5870er cards are used with a DVI-VGA adapter.

If you don't find your card in the table, please have a look at the other posts in this thread. Keeping the table up-to-date is relatively timeconsuming, which is the reason I stopped doing it.

ONE report of flashed with working boot screen but at crappy resolution, flashed with an EFI64-modified sapphire BIOS. I have been following this forum for a few days now and I think I have read most topics regarding the 5770/5870 flashing stuff. However, what I'm missing a bit is some kind of an overview of what has been achieved already by netkas, rominator and the other great guys who have initiated all of this. Is there some wiki page or some table that gives new users a quick overview of what already is possible with which configration (mac pro, graphic card, rom) and what has yet to be tested/hacked first? If not, just to give you an example (with some example data) what I'm imagining: Card Mac Pro 1,1 Mac Pro 1,2 Mac Pro 1,3 Mac Pro 1,4 Apple ATI Radeon 5770 Works Works Works Works Apple ATI Radeon 5870 Works Works Works Works Sapphire HD 5770 (11163-02-10/20) Partially works with ROM XY. Me being a Mac Pro 1,1 owner who has a Sapphire 5770, I saw that I only need find this Rom XY and I would be getting limited usage out of my card.

So I scoured the forum.damn no other mention of Rom XY. Ok, maybe it's on another site.spent like 10 minutes googling to my hearts content. Went back to the 'overview' and read it all the way through. Yeah.just example data.ok.I feel stupid now. Here is my Card: Club3D HD5770 1Gb EAN CGAX-57724IDP Ati Radeon 5770 Reference Design, black PCB, crappy loud Cooler, looks like Apple card, 2 DVI 1 HDMI 1DP ROM: 5770 vanilla design card, efi part from imac Netkas Version MACPRO 3,1, Dual 2,8GHz Harpertown, early 2008: Bootscreen, Dualdisplay working, either DualDVI or DVI and Displayport, tested 2560x1600 and 1600x1200 in Pivot Card is less noisy than in PC with original ROM but louder than ATI 4870, Bootcamp not tested « Last Edit: September 09, 2010, 12:04:58 AM by PoloBear » Logged.

Mac & card: I have a MacPro4,1 (early 2009, quad 2.93 GHz) and use a HIS Radeon HD 5870 with 1 GB memory (product code H587F1GDG). The card is in reference design, see.

Noise at idle is quite audible, way louder than the Apple 4870 I used to have - I ordered a new cooler to take care of it. Dunno about temps, Hardware Monitor doesn't support the card. ROM: I'm using the HIS5870.rom that Netkas made with the original ROM + EFI part from iMac, available at. No video at boot until login screen, after that everything works fine - using two 24' displays at 1920x1200 on the DVI ports. « Last Edit: September 07, 2010, 07:43:09 PM by boli » Logged.

I used efi rom from new imac’s 5750 and original 5770 pc rom to create custom hybrid rom. It works in osx, no injector used. Since I used mobility ATI rom we have nothing from card on boot, but once osx booted – the card works. Both dvi ports work, displayport works too, 3 displays doesnt work atm.

Once we have macpro’s 5770/5870 roms boot screen should work too. But for now you can already enjoy 5770 in your macpro. It only works on 2008+ macpros, because efi is 64-bit now, not ebc anymore. Screenshots and the rom: before flashing you also need to install. Also, 5870 is working too in macpro. Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro3,1 Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz Number Of Processors: 2 Total Number Of Cores: 8 L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB Memory: 12 GB Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05 SMC Version (system): 1.25f4 Thanks to Netkas ROM 5770, the Gigabyte card GV-R577UD-1GD HD5770, worked perfectly. I just would like to know how are you guys solving the problem with the cables.

I upgraded from an ATI Radeon HD 4870 (Mac Version) which already had the power cables. I’d like to buy a new set of cables to use the 4870 in another macpro. Can somebody tell me where can I find them? Test DVI ports Greetings and Netkas, you are the BEST!!!! Successfully flashed a Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X. The main difficulty was getting to a DOS prompt. In the end, I used the standard FreeDOS ISO file and burned it to a CD.

I initially wanted to use a USB stick, but no matter what I tried, the Mac would not see it as a boot device. When launching FreeDOS, select 1 to run FreeDOS, then 1 again to “install”. Select keyboard and then select LiveCD option. Once at the command prompt, you can just plug a USB stick (it’ll mount in A:) with atiflash and the ROM file and get flashing.

Thanks Netkas and others and good luck on getting the EFI screen loading! I is a 2008 Early Mac Pro users! First of all, thank you for giving me a great ROM created. XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB Triple X graphics card installation was successful.

But also the boot logo screen (the gray Apple mark) does not appear. To solve this problem, I tried hard, but there was no way to investigate the Internet. Now the key issue of the 5770 saphire vanilla design card rom for the imac m5770 rom found out that it was built on. Since that time I Radeon HD 5770 for Mac Pro start looking for the rom and the last one was achieved from netizens.
