I bought this to replace my BlackMagic box, which requires complex and time consuming adjustments and settings (which sometimes work, and sometimes do not). But the Magewell has no software to worry about. It's plug and play.
Love this thing. If you do any kind of live streaming, the Magewell is a must to put into your camera bag. Yes, it gets a little warm (so does BM), but I streamed for 8 hours straight without any issues at all. Highly recommend. I have not tried the SDI version, but bought and use this HDMI version.
