An administrative application launching program for public or novice user environments. Allows the machine administrator to create a menu of one-click buttons to launch applications, documents etc. Tips on deployment in multi-user environments. A full screen, web kiosk application with security, web screen saver, and some “universal access” features.
This application can be used to create public information and/or web kiosks. A screen saver module which will display a web page. Used in lab settings to run banners over the login window on Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4. Is a Privileged Helper Tool application for 10.5+ which will display a single URL.
Used in digital signs to run banners over the login window in Mac OS X 10.5+. NO LONGER SUPPORTED. A printer dialog extension that interfaces with a cups backend to provide kerberized printing to servers under MacOS X 10.3 only. Install includes klpr cups backend and lpd.conf file, which must be configured for your environment. Old way to print to kerberized print servers under 10.2 with scripted backend and iHook. There are better ways.
This is a Universal Binary build of a Contextual Menu Plug-in that works with OpenAFS and the MacOS X 10.3+ Finder to provide some fs and pts functions.
Andrew File System (AFS) Andrew File System (AFS) is a global filesystem that allows access to files from Mac, Windows or Linux computers. It is similar to cloud-based storage, however, data is stored locally at Carnegie Mellon University. AFS also allows file sharing with other members of the Carnegie Mellon University community. Network Drive storage on Mac lab computers uses AFS space. CourseWeb Project VolumeFaculty and teaching assistants may request a to upload and share course-related web pages to the andrew.cmu.edu server.
Canvas and Blackboard are the recommended technology for storing and sharing course-related information. Publishing works the same way, copying HTML files from the www directory of the CourseWeb Project Volume. CourseWeb project volumes are created in /afs/andrew/course/. CourseWeb pages are published with the URL where courseid is the course ID number. File Sharing with other CMU affiliates through the public directory.
Non-Course Project Volume Departments may request a non-course project volume (5GB max) in AFS to project or other departmental files. Non-course project volumes are created in /afs/andrew/department/. UserWeb Students, faculty and staff are provided personal AFS space. Web content is published using HTML files stored in the www directory of an individual’s AFS space.
Personal pages are published with the URL youruserid/ where youruserid is your Andrew userID. Eligibility Students, faculty and staff Request. (include department name and purpose).
